This privacy policy explains what data outdoorcalc.com.au ("the site", "we", "us") collects when you visit, how that data is used, and what your rights are. It's written to be read by a human, not just a lawyer.
The short version
We don't ask for your name, email or phone number. We don't make accounts. We don't send newsletters. The calculators run entirely in your browser — your measurements aren't sent to our server. The site is supported by display advertising (Google AdSense), which uses cookies. That's essentially it.
What we collect ourselves
The site itself collects basic web server logs when pages load. These typically include:
- Your IP address (a number identifying your internet connection)
- The date and time of the visit
- The page you visited and the page you came from (the "referrer")
- Your browser type and operating system
This information is used to keep the site running, spot abuse, and understand which calculators are most useful. We don't combine this data with anything personal about you because we don't have anything personal about you.
Analytics
We use privacy-friendly analytics to see which pages are most used and where visitors come from. The analytics tool anonymises IP addresses and does not track you across other websites.

Email enquiries
If you email us (via the contact page), we keep your email only long enough to answer your question. We don't add contact-page emailers to any kind of list. There is no list.
Your rights under Australian privacy law
The site is operated from Australia and is subject to the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. Because we don't collect personal information in the sense defined by the Act, most obligations around access, correction and deletion aren't triggered. But if you believe we hold information about you and want to raise a concern, you can contact us via the contact page.
If we can't resolve your concern, you can raise it with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, the updated version will be posted here with a new "last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged in a banner on the homepage for at least 14 days.
